The Emerging Creative Award highlights a breakthrough creative leader who is starting to blossom as an impactful and innovative contributor to the Connecticut arts scene.
If you know a special someone who fits the description, please take a moment to nominate this individual. Self-nominations will be accepted. This year, the Connecticut Office of the Arts will recognize up to three (3) Emerging Creatives.
The deadline to submit a nomination is Sunday, October 15, 2023 at 11:59 p.m.
The Min Jung Kim joined the New Britain Museum of American Art on November 2, 2015, bringing more than 20 years of experience in the art museum field. Most recently, Kim served as Deputy Director for External Relations of the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum (pronounced Brōde) of Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan (Broad MSU), a new museum of contemporary art known for its building designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Zaha Hadid. Kim has an M.A. in Art History from the Courtauld If your small business is looking to sell its goods and services to the global marketplace in 2021, be sure to check out the Connecticut State Trade Expansion Program (STEP).
STEP grants are funded in part by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and help qualifying small businesses start or expand their international trade activities.
In prior years, a significant portion of STEP grants were used to attend and participate in international trade shows like Hannover Messe and the Paris Air Show. When it comes to the economic impact of the pandemic, small businesses have been hit harder than most. I have spoken with many of these business owners and I am continually impressed with their determination to keep their workers employed and their organizations active during this incredibly challenging time.
Small businesses are an important part of Connecticut’s economy and have always been a driving force behind the state’s innovative spirit. Right now, we need to be doing everything we can to support The COVID Relief Fund for the Arts, administered by the Connecticut Office of the Arts (COA) within the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD), was created to support arts nonprofits that
are performing arts centers, schools of the arts, or performing groups for whom grants will make a difference in terms of survival or rehiring; and have had to curtail operations for a period of time due to the COVID-19 pandemic and which have had limited ability to reopen due to pandemic restrictions These sessions are open to all Connecticut artists!

The goal is simple: to help artists sell more of their work during the fall holiday season and to help shoppers find unique, personal and hand-made gifts for their loved ones!

The Supporting Arts grant program provides unrestricted funding to help support Connecticut's arts organizations and municipal arts departments as they pursue their mission. This type of grant is flexible rather than for specific projects or programs and gives the grantee the ability to use The ARTE-accesible Grant Program Now Accepting Applications!
The ARTE-accesible (Ar.Teh-Ock.Seh.See.Bleh) grant program supports activities that provide greater access to the arts by all persons with or without disabilities and to all individuals regardless of language.
Grants requests may range from $500 to $3,000 and can be used to support:
Program and service offerings to improve the experience for audiences of all abilities.Staff training and internal resource support to carry out accessible The Artist Fellowship program provides recognition and funding support for Connecticut Artists and Creatives to pursue new work and advance their artistic careers.
Three (3) grant designations awarded:Artistic Excellence - $5,000Artist Fellowship - $3,000Emerging Recognition - $1,000
